- Mand: The learner asks for something that is currently wanted (Behavior Analysts cannot infer "want"; we might say "asks for something" but stop there.) It can be referred to as demand or request.
- Echoic: The learner repeats exactly what they hear. This is also a vocal imitation.
- Motor Imitation: The learner copies or repeats another's motor movement.
- Tact: The learner states something by name that is in sight.
- Receptive: The learner follows a direction of another.
- Intraverbal: Talking about something that is not present; answering "wh" questions; responding to someone's verbal behavior.
- FFC: This stands for Function, Feature and Class. Here the learner is talking about items by their identifying characteristics.
- Textual: Saying a word when seeing the written word.
- Writing: Writing the word when said aloud.
